STOCK, J. H. 1992. A new species of Hemicyclops (Crustacea, Copepoda, Poecilostomatoida, Clausidiidae) associated with hermit crabs in Curaçao. Stud. Nat. Hist. Caribbean Region 71, Amsterdam 1992: 69-78. Hemicyclops geminatus n. sp. is described from the upper infralittoral zone of Curaçao (Antilles). It is a regular associate of three species of hermit crabs: Calcinus tibicen, Paguristes grayi, and Dardanus venosus. The new taxon appears to be a twin species of Hemicyclops columnaris HUMES, 1984, an associate of a stony coral off the Pacific coast of Panamá. |

Trindade and Martin Vaz (TMV) is a highly isolated, oceanic volcanic archipelago located some 1200 km off the Brazilian coast and about 4200 km away from the nearest African coast. For almost 100 years Calcinus tibicen (Herbst, 1791) was the only hermit crab species known from TMV. From 2012 to 2018, 263 daytime SCUBA diving and intertidal samplings conducted at TMV yielded 1075 paguroid specimens in 10 species, three of which are established herein as new species: Iridopagurus martinvaz sp. nov., Nematopagurus micheleae sp. nov., and Pagurus carmineus sp. nov. Iridopagurus margaritensis García-Gómez, 1983, and Phimochirus leurocarpus McLaughlin, 1981, both only known from the northern hemisphere, are recorded for the first time from the southwestern... |

A phylogenetic analysis of selected anomuran, thalassinidean, and other decapod crustacean taxa, based on spermatozoal ultrastructural characters and spermatophore morphological characters, was performed and the following relationships of the taxa are elucidated from the trees produced. The Anomura are not a monophyletic assemblage, with the lomoid Lomis being exclusive of the remainder of the anomuran taxa, and the thalassinid Thalassina included in the anomuran clade. The synapomorphy joining the majority of the conventional anomuran taxa ( Lomis excluded) is the cytoplasmic origin of the microtubular arms. When the palinurid and thalassinoid representatives are separately designated as outgroups, the Astacidea and Brachyura jointly formed a sister group... |

A worldwide systematic review of the genus Anapagurus is presented. In addition to the rediagnoses of the genus and all known species, five new species, A. alboranensis, A. adriaticus, A. vossi, A. atlantidii, and A. congolensis, are described. All 18 species are illustrated and a key to the species is given. Several new diagnostic characters found in the right chelipeds (1- the shape and relative size of the mesial and lateral lobes that flank the dorsoproximal margin of the palm; 2- the shape and relative size of the median sinus of the ventroproximal palmar margin; 3- the shape, armature and relative size of the dorsomesial distal carpal angle; and 4- the shape and extension of both ventrodistal and ventroproximal carpal margins, which determine the... |
